NDIS Art Therapy
Under the NDIS, art therapy is provided as an allied health service like physiotherapy, OT, or speech therapy.
How an art therapy session works.
Liz will guide you to express yourself using things like: painting, drawing, clay, writing, movement, sound, storytelling, puppetry etc.
You will have the opportunity to explore the things that matter to you and to choose the ways you express yourself.
You do not need any experience as an artist, and you will not be judged on your art making.
Liz creates a safe space for you to explore different art modalities, and guides you to creatively represent feelings, emotions, relationships and ways of being.
An art therapy session may assist you to explore and develop:
Self-expression through making art
Creativity for self-awareness and problem solving
Mindfulness and self-care practices
Communication skills for relating to others
Expressing needs and boundaries
Strategies and skills for dealing with stress, anxiety, physical and mental health challenges
Working towards personal and life goals
Art therapy can also be fun and playful.
